Mayor Cunningham Raises Taxes

In an informal meeting held at the Skyline Lounge last night. Mayor Cunningham along with his Business and Tax Advisors, made the decision to raise taxes for next year.

Despite the influx of simoleans raised at the Simday 20, Silent Auction Fundraising Event, the Hood is in desperate need to raise it's income. The Hood expenses far outweigh its income, and our budget keeps falling in response.

S'Ahmisa Warwick, summer political intern, will be answering calls all month at City Hall for any concerned sititzens that have questions or issues regarding this new tax increase.

"I really didn't want to raise taxes while I was in office, however, it's detrimental to start increasing our income before we fall back into the red like we did after the unfortunate hurricane years ago. I want to try and remedy this situation before it's too late and gets out of hand." Mayor Cunningham said in his statement to The Simmington-Times.

"One good thing out of all this, is that Farmers living on ABR lots will be receiving an additional $1,500 in deductions. SimCity Government has never recognized farmers for giving back to this Hood Administration and to the neighborhood. Now they will! And our farmers will benefit from that. Hopefully, in their success, they'll continue to help our Hood grow." Trenton VanHouten, Tax Advisor, reported.

ABR lots are Administrative Business Residential lots that are used specifically to produce goods for betterment of the Hood Administration and Simmington Hills.

Marisa: I must say, you guys have really amped up your look since we last saw you at the Apple Festival in Apple Valley. What inspired this fantastic new look?!

AB: *both laugh* The album. (They said in unison.)

Trevor Yates: It's funny you say that...we get that question a lot since this tour started. Actually, it was the remix of "Mystical, XI, Free". That song just took on a life of its own! You can't sing and play that song in blue jeans.

Gareth Thayer: No way...man! *laughs* It's too mystical, dude. SumaSim was a monster on that track! He laid down some earth shattering lead guitar licks.

Marisa: Ursha, the album, has been steadily climbing the SiMCharts since it was released, you guys must really be proud!

Gareth: You know...we've got the Number One album in SimNation right now! It's incredible! I never could have imagined it two months ago. But after we hooked up with Fiorenza Pentragnani...

Marisa: She's the head of SiMusic Records, right?

Trevor: Right. She said we had to take "Mystical, Xi, Free" to another level and we worked out the remix that night and laid it down. The remix is what has put us on the map, singlehandedly!

Marisa: Something readers may not know...Trevor, you're from Apple Valley and Gareth, you're from New Eden. Most Sims assume you both hail from Apple Valley, but that's not so.

Well, here's the part of the interview where I want to ask both of you the same questions. I'm sure my readers are just as curious as I am.

How did you guys begin your journey to stardom?

Trevor: I actually was headed in the opposite direction and wanted to play classical music. I had to try out a new instrument for a class and fell in love with the guitar and bass. I never thought anything of it until my roommate suggested that I audition for a band with SiMusic. The rest is history.

Gareth: I started playing music when I was a teen, when I asked my parents for a bass guitar for my birthday. I liked it so much that I studied music in college, but I didn't know I would make a career of it until I answered an ad on the SUN boards from someone who was looking for members for another band that was just starting. I got the part and the rest is history.

Marisa: What is your most favorite thing to do?

Trevor Yates

Trevor: Besides play music? That's all I like to do, write songs and play music. I am trying to learn how to cook something besides mac and cheese.

Gareth: Besides the obvious, music, I like art. When I'm in New Eden, my sister is usually kind enough to let me mess around in her art studio. On tour I like to doodle when we're traveling between gigs. I also enjoy spending an evening with a few, good friends, going out to dinner or to a club to listen to music and just hanging out.

Marisa: After this tour, what's your next project going to be?

Trevor: Getting a permanent place to live! Right now we're living out of hotels and at least Gareth gets to crash on his sister's couch when he goes home, but I don't have that luxury and am crashing at various hotels. I would like to get an apartment or condo. We're also working on our next album and it should be almost ready to be shipped. We have a few more finishing touches to do on a few tracks, but it should be out soon.

Gareth: Finishing our next album and hopefully making plans for another tour in the future. Though, I wouldn't mind taking a little time off from traveling for awhile. I've started mentoring another young up and coming artist, from the teen band, Glitter, helping to give her advice on getting her career going in the business.

Marisa: Are either of you in a relationship or looking for love?

Trevor: I'm single and wouldn't mind a relationship. It takes a special sim to be in a relationship with a musician. There are the tours, long hours and crazy up and down of the business.

Gareth: I'm single. My last relationship ended just before we started Aerial Bionic, so I'm ready and open to looking for love again.

1st Commencement Ceremony in The Hills!

The first high school grads of our time have finally graduated! These teens are our future and let me tell you...the future looks bright!

The prestigious Magnolia Ballet Academy was home to our first ever commencement ceremony on Saturday. The program was brief but very touching. Many accolades were given for the patience and nurturing provided to these students over the years.

At one time, Elmer and Erline Valdes were flunking out of school and were threatened to be taken away by the social worker. With a lot of perseverance by their mother, Emerita Valdes, along with Nick Michels, they commissioned The Administration to bring our own private school here, thus CPS was born! The benefits of this contribution have proven results, as Elmer and Erline are both graduating with honors!

"It's not often you see families so dedicated to education as these two families are. You do the best you can with your kids and hope they'll make something out of themselves, despite their adversities." Dr. Trinity Dalton, Medical Advisor, stated.

Erline Valdes recently became a teen mom and despite that fact, she was able to keep her honors status and graduate.

"Well before I got pregnant, I was almost finished with the requirements I needed to graduate. It wasn't hard to make up the last couple credits I needed. I won't say it hasn't been difficult because it has. I missed out on pretty much my entire Senior year, but my family has been really helpful with the baby, while I crammed through my final exams. I wouldn't know what to do without them." The young mother smiled.

Mayor Cunningham not only distributed diplomas on Saturday, but the Valdes twins also received a Certificate of Excellence signed by the Mayor himself.

Plans to attend Sims State and major in Physics.

Elmer Valdes and Rashid Cunningham plan to leave for Sims State in early July 2008 to begin SSU's Summer Enrichment Program, that promotes early graduation.

Political Internship Begins for Apple Valley Teen

The ambitious 18 year old arrived to begin a summer internship with Mayor Sabien Cunningham, Sr. This is the 1st internship for Simmington Hills.

She was asked how she felt about this opportunity and said:

"I've been fortunate to travel quite a bit in my young life. I've visited the Schatazweitzier Mountains as a child, and I've lived in Kimikura for the past three simyears and have adjusted rather well to the culture and ways there; I think I'm more nervous about living at the Magnolia Mansion for the next 3 months!" She chuckled.

"Seriously though, I think it's going to be a fantastic experience seeing the Mayor at work and at home; spending time with his family and making new friendships is what it's all about.

My main priority is to learn as much as I can about the different styles of leadership. Meeting the top leaders in this community will be a great opportunity. And once I get back home, I'll be interning with Apple County President Fiona Kent."

This young prodigy is also interested in finding out ways of limiting imports to the hood. It brings to mind the question if Mayor Cunningham will implement limits to our imports in the future.

With hardly any time to get settled in, S'Ahmisa and Mayor Cunningham were both whisked away in the Willowland SIM-67 Apache Strongbow helicopter and flown to Bluewater Village's Fort Hills Military Base, which is normally a 20 minute drive, where they met with former AV resident, General Bruce Peterson and his small troop, to discuss Mayor Cunningham's intentions for the military in the future.

"There can be no distractions. We've got to build our troops to be strong enough to step in when emergencies arise. To fight when the battle is upon us." Mayor Cunningham declared.

"You must have no fear. One day our opposition will fear us!" Everyone cheered.

The meeting ended with a tour of the new base and a light brunch in the Mess Hall where the speech took place.

New Military General Arrives at Fort Hills Military Base

Fort Hills Military Base [FHMB] opened its doors this month for the arrival of highly decorated General Bruce Peterson and his wife, Greta Peterson. The military base was voted on last year with a split vote, however the vote passed and the location was decided for Bluewater Village Township, Seratoga County because they had stepped in and sent us prisoners for our new Willow County Jail when SimCity declined.

"I'm excited to be here. I think the Hood Administration has made a good choice. The Military is my life and I will die serving my SimNation." Gen. Peterson stated in his interview.

Gen. Peterson is Simmington Hills' new Military Advisor. His current militia is small, but includes Recruiter Anthony Bachelor and ROTC Cadet Sierra Spencer.

OBIT - Nedra Bachelor

Nedra Bachelor departed from this life on June 2008, at the age of 35. She was visiting Three Lakes with a group of co-workers on a paranormal convention when a severe hailstorm broke out. She had no time to get to safety.

Nedra was a Conspiracy Theorist for the SimCity Psychic Organization. Nedra and her family moved to Willow County, Simmington Hills, 2 years ago. During this time, she has made quite a name for herself as a neighborhood psychic advisor and palm reader to her closest friends.

She was a great mother, wife and confidante, who will be missed by those who knew her.

Nedra leaves behind:

Devoted husband, Anthony Bachelor, Daughter, Kendra Bachelor, Son, Kent Bachelor, Friends: Edward and Emerita Valdes, Keith and Trinity Dalton, and Chance Blair.

The body has been buried at Simhead Cemetery.

Hailstorm Pummels Simmington Hills, 1 Dead

A severe hailstorm is sweeping through Simmington Hills with unbridled fury, shattering car windows, and creating havoc on outdoor swimmers and sunbathers.

Hail the size of tangerines is falling almost horizontally, fueled by driving winds as the storm leaves residents in a state of shock.

"These huge ice balls came out of nowhere, one minute I'm tanning in the sun, enjoying my day off...the next, the sky got dark, the winds picked up, and I'm running for my life!" Marisa Bendett, Columnist for The Simmington-Times, reported from Willow Co. Community Park. "I haven't seen panic like this since the hurricane."

"Most residents here are still shaken up by any change in weather. We've been devastated in the past, and no one wants to see that happen again. We've got to realize that in SimNation, anything is possible...never leave home without an umbrella." SimCity Meteorologist, Shane Deters, stated.

The hardest hit area is in Three Lakes where one unidentified Willow County resident was travelling. Hail size there has been reported to be the size of grapefruits. The unidentified Sim was said to be travelling with a group and is the only fatality from this terrible storm; we have no further information at this time. The Times will reveal the identity of this resident once we have verified our information and notified the family.

Apple Valley President's Twin Brother Shows Up

The twin brother of well known President/Spokes Sim, Fiona Kent of Apple Valley disappeared from his home in Palatial Heights a few months ago; without word. Apparently, leaving behind a wife and twin sons.

THG intercepted an IPhone text message (taken from SUN) that was sent from Gin, Fredic's wife, to Fiona Kent:

Fiona,

I'm out of town and typing from iPhone, but Fredic disappeared. Haven't you guys been in touch? He and I separated 2 months ago and I stopped writing you figuring you didn't want to hear from me anymore. He apparently got involved with a college student and last Thursday didn't come home. Andreas called to tell me and the boys are now staying with my best friend until I get back.

....A few months ago (ht) there was a rumor that he was having an affair with our mayor. They were spending so much time together and working long hours and apparently the rumor started at the office. I never believed any of that because she came over to the house quite often and I never got any inclination that she had the hots for Fredic. Then...about 2 months ago I found out that he was having an affair with a college student. I found an email from her accidentally one night when he left the computer on to go to the restroom. I wanted to hop on to surf and his email account was still open. I couldn't believe it, didn't think Fredic had it in him to cheat on me. Anyway, I didn't bring it up to him for about a week. One night when the twins were at a friend's house I told him we needed to talk. He denied everything until I told him that I know her name and that she's a college student (from the email). He told me he was seeing her for about a month at that point and that he wanted a separation. So I went to the castle and have been living there until I got the phone call about his disappearance.

Then today, our spies from THG found out that..."Her (Fiona's) twin brother, Fredic, was found hiding out at some cabin. She (Fiona) hasn't spoken to him since Gin called with the news, but Fiona is waiting for him to respond to her message."

At press release time, Fiona has still not heard from her brother.

What is it with the young men in this family?! Is it me or does it seem like they can't be content having a relationship and family? Can they not keep it in their pants?!

Fredic and Fiona Kent are 1st cousins to The Hills resident Ray Wilsonoff, who just found out he fathered a baby with teenager, Erline Valdes, last month. Fiona and Fredic's famous mom/author, Ayanna Kent (deceased) was the twin sister of Ray's dad, Ajani Kent-Wilsonoff (deceased).

THG has been sitting on this 'Fredic/Gin nugget' for months now; until more information presented itself. In the meantime, we've watched Fiona Kent, although highly stressed, sweep this little issue quietly under the proverbial rug...sorry to uncover the dirt, Mrs. President.

I can't wait to see what Fredic has to say about his whereabouts.

It's a Girl!

Simmington Hills is proud to announce its 50th resident, and the 1st baby born under our new time relevance! Proud mom, Erline Valdes, 18, is the daughter of Edward Valdes, owner of BBV Motors, and Emerita Valdes, Homemaker Advisor and Superintendent of the Board of Education.

When asked about her baby's beautiful name, Erline responded, "I wanted something that sounded like my own name, and my Mom's grandmother's name was Maree. We gave her a middle name because she's born under the new time relevance and we like how the residents in neighboring town, Sullivan Sims, have middle names. So my Mom and I decided to start this new trend in The Hills."

Paternity was in question until a DNA test proved Ray Wilsonoff, 32, formerly of Apple Valley, fathered the child. Ray Wilsonoff, owner of Saint Rose Bakery, was married last year to Lydia Sagacious in a beautiful ceremony at City Hall; the couple is expecting their first child later this summer.

Local Resident Suffers Miscarriage

Stacy Masters, 2007

Dr. Trinity Dalton was called to the home of Cameron and Stacy Masters this morning to assist Mrs. Masters to the hospital. "My wife complained of cramping around 1 a.m." Cameron stated. "I could see she was in a lot of pain, that's when I called Dr. Dalton." She was placed on immediate bedrest and monitored at SH Medical Center.

"Stacy had tremendous difficulty with her last pregnancy, so I knew that this one would be touch and go, and I informed her of that early on. I think she did her best to take care of herself, and this simply could not be prevented." Dr. Dalton stated. The baby would have been born in June.

Stacy is recuperating at home and requests that everyone please respect her privacy during this difficult time.

Burglar Nabbed on Cedar Street!
March 2008 - Round 2008

Responding to alarms on the quiet suburb street around 3 a.m., Police were able to apprehend a burglar trying to gain entry into a house at 88 E. Cedar early Monday morning. The suspect has been identified as Russ Bear.

"I heard a car and house alarm going off. It woke me up out of my sleep. I thought it was my house." neighbor, Nick Michels, told reporters.

Officer Demi Love

Officer Demi Love was the first to arrive on the scene and captured the suspect before he could steal anything.

"When I arrived, the suspect was breaking into the front door, but I seized him inside the foyer. He never stepped foot into the main living area. The family was sleeping and did not hear the disturbance until after I had the suspect in handcuffs. Nothing was taken from the home." Officer Love recounted.

"I'm so glad this whole thing was resolved and no one in my family was hurt. This man was dangerous. It really pays to get your car and house alarmed, if you can afford it, because you can never be too comfortable; not even in the suburbs. It's a shame that some Sims feel they need to resort to crime. " Keith Dalton stated. The Daltons have lived in this home for over nine simyears and have never had a break-in.

Lt. Tomika Cunningham praised Ofc. Love for her arrest. "We train our officers to respond quickly and aggressively. This young woman has shown bravery and represents the SHPD with pride. I'm very happy that she was there."

The suspect, Russ Bear, was taken downtown instead of to Willow County Jail. He is currently on suicide watch.

The Dalton family received $500 for damages to their front door.

Missing Woman

The woman missing is Cheri O'Brian (32). She resides at 1 Hunter Road of Simmerville, and she works as the manager of local traditional jam club, Lake Ellie's at 2 Old Simmer Lane. She is tall, fit, brown hair, brown eyes. She was most likely wearing something pink because pink that is her favourite colour.

She owns her home, and her twin brother Arnie O'Brian resides there also but is on the edge to move out. They also keep a dog, which belonged to their mother. Cheri's grandmother was the legendary Bimbo NL, making Cheri the 3rd generation in Simmerville. Her older sister lives close. None of the siblings have heard from her since 2 days ago, according to her brother Arnie who contacted the police earlier today. The last he saw of her sister was that she completed a vase on her pottery wheel, then he heard she left in order to take a walk. She did not bring their dog, which might cause to speculations whether she might have had plans.

Cheri O'Brian was single and although being very social she had few friends besides the regular guests she met at her work.

If you saw Cheri O'Brian the past couple days, do contact the police. This article will be updated as the case evolves.

Maxine Wise, Education Director, has decided that the Senior Class of 2008 is too small to host a Senior Prom this simyear. It would have been the first Prom for CPS Junior/Senior High held this May 2008.

"I was really looking forward to the Prom for the kids. We had the venue rented with a refundable deposit down and I'm grateful it's still early enough to get our simoleans back...but being that our Valedictorian is now away in college and the lack of RSVPs received from the families, there's just not enough student participation to validate spending money on this event. I think we only had two students to RSVP, the rest of them cancelled. It's just not enough." Maxine stated in a phone interview this morning.

There's always next simyear.

Architect Struck by Lightning

Residential Architect, Lars Larsson, was struck by lightning tonight as he was leaving Willow Co. Public Library. Lt. Tomika Cunningham was there and said that she believes Mr. Larsson was just finishing a date when a cab pulled up to take him home. "The lightning appeared to come out of nowhere and strike him." Mrs. Cunningham stated. She called 011 for an ambulance.

Dr. Trinity Dalton from SH Medical Center stated, "Although he had lost his bodily functions and was pretty singed up, he was definitely responsive when the medics arrived. It looks like he's suffered some minor burns, though. We're going to monitor him overnight. If all goes well, he should be well enough to go home tomorrow. You never know when accidents are going to happen, that's why it's important to pay your health insurance. Mr. Larsson is insured."

OBIT - Asya Rasmussen, Founder

Simmington Hills is very saddened by Ms. Rasmussen's passing. Asya was a Founder and Military Advisor for the Hood Administration. She was a jokester who loved to pull pranks and make her friends laugh. She loved to talk on the phone and was one of the most intelligent Sims in Simmington Hills, with 49/70 skills. Asya had just become a Flight Officer in the Military. Another achievement she made to Simmington Hills was that she gave birth to the first baby girl born in The Hills, Sierra.

Asya died in a swimming pool at her home from alcohol-related issues. She was only 39 simyears old.

Asya leaves to mourn her passing: Daughter, Sierra Spencer, Fiance, Sergio Spencer, Best Friend, Honey Michels, Former roomate, Dr. Trinity Higgins, Mayor/Spokesim Sabien Cunningham and family, and the entire Hood Administration.

The body has been buried at Simhead Cemetery.

What's New at City Hall!

The Welcome Center & Gift Shop recently received a Good Review from SimCity Reporter Andrew Enriquez, for giving top notch service. "The credit really goes to Goopy Gilscarbo and Andrea Hogan, they work really hard but we're also glad to announce that City Hall has a new sign! The sign was erected earlier today and it states that City Hall is the "Heart of the Hills". That couldn't be more true." Sabien Cunningham said in a statement to Simmington-Times.

Sabien and Tomika Cunningham welcomed their second son, Marchon. "His name is pronounced, 'Mar-shawn', and we are so pleased to have him. His big brother, Rashid is getting used to the fact that we have someone new at home, but he's adjusting well. My wife and I thank you all for your well wishes." Mr. Cunningham said in a brief statement.

We wish Cameron Masters and his new bride Stacy, (formerly Tse), all the best. The two were married quietly in their apartment in Cedar Flats on Simday 8.
"We didn't want all the fuss and press. We wanted a quiet ceremony with just the two of us." Cameron said in a statement.

They are expecting their first baby any moment.

We'd like to congratulate Nick Michels and Honey Tebo, who were married today in a quiet ceremony at their apartment. SH Reporter was caught by surprise as we were just releasing announcement of their engagement when news of a wedding had taken place! The newlyweds had kept this secret from all of their colleagues and friends.

"We didn't see any reason for delaying. We decided it was best to go ahead and get married!" Nick stated.

Sim City Bank Takes Over!

Sabien Cunningham called a meeting with the Founders at City Hall that went into the late night. Our sources revealed that the meeting was held to talk about Sim City Trust taking over Bank of America. Nick Michels is still going to hold his management position at the bank. This whole changeover will take place effective Simday 8.

After the dissension in City Hall on Simday 4, over Sergio Spencer's loan agreement to build a store, rumors have been spreading that the old bank procedures needed to be redone. It looks like Sergio Spencer and other Simmingtonians have won that battle.

The new bank will be called, SimCity Bank. A lot of Sims believe that Mr. Michels was wrong for naming the first bank after a fictitous place called America, (Bank of America). They say that we try to emulate these so-called Americans too much, instead of living our own lives.

Sabien Cunningham is bringing it back to the way it should be...for Sims, by Sims.

Founder Seen Causing An Altercation!

Spokes Sim, Sabien Cunningham, witnessed a Founder involved in an altercation downtown in SimCity earlier today. Although he did not mention any names, SHSR has recovered a copy of the security tape.

Honey Michels, Athletic Advisor and All Star for the SimCity Llamas was shopping at the Planetary Pet Store when she assaulted Jonathan Wade who resides in SimCity. She could not be reached for comment.

Witnesses at the scene say that Mrs. Michels was yelling at Mr. Wade that she was offended several months ago when he had made a pass at her. She supposedly has been furious with him ever since.

The former Ms. Tebo was just recently engaged to Nick Michels, however as we reported yesterday, they got married on the same day. Mr. Michels was at the scene, but did not witness the altercation. He declined to comment.

City Hall's Grand Opening!

Lots of Simmingtonians came out to celebrate the grand opening of the new City Hall Building located on Magnolia Ave.

Sabien Cunningham was pleased at the turn out. "I'm just so happy that the fine sitizens are enjoying their new City Hall. This building is for them and the future of Simmington Hills." Cunningham said in a statement.

The Welcome Center Gift Shop is selling "I Love Simmington Hill" T-shirts and coffee mugs. "They are selling like hotcakes." Andrea Hogan, Gift Shop Cashier/Restocker.

Public Assault Takes Place in Bank

Marisa Bendett, Townie

A woman identified as Marisa Bendett was seen slapping an unidentified woman wearing flame pants, at the Bank of America. The unidentified woman reportedly fled the building after landing several slaps across Ms. Bendett's face, in retaliation of Ms. Bendett's assault.

"This girl claimed that I bogarted the line! I did no such thing! I was there to see Nick Michels and talk to him about his plans for the bank...she said I was flirting with him instead of conducting business. Who is she!? I got mad when she called me a slut. My temper got the best of me. I apologize for losing my temper." Ms. Bendett claimed in a statement to Police.

Tomika Cunningham, Security Advisor, made a statement to our reporter. "I am actively investigating this matter. I hope to have an identification on the 2nd woman soon. Ms. Bendett has agreed to pay the fine. I have to remind all Simmingtonians, if you see any assaults or public brawls, please contact me immediately. We want all of our sitizens to feel safe when they leave their homes."

Tensions in City Hall

There are rumors spreading around town that tensions are swelling in City Hall between Sabien Cunningham, Sergio Spencer, Culinary Advisor, and Nick Michels, Business Advisor and Manager of First American Bank. The wranglings have to do with opening SH's first grocery store. We do not have any more information at this time.

Witnesses say the threesome had a heated debate in today's council meeting. Will the Hood Administration fall prey to in-fighting before things can get off the ground?

In a statement by Sabien Cunningham this morning, he confirmed our suspicions. "It is still early in the development. Growing pains are only natural when things are first starting out. Everyone is feeling their way through, but I assure every sitizen, that we will reach an agreeable solution."

Roof Raiser Wedding in Simmington Hills!

Hood Council Leader and Spokes Sim, Sabien Cunningham and his beautiful bride, Tomika Green, had a party to outdo all parties last night. The nuptials were held in the couple's sideyard at their new apartment in the Cedar Street Two Flats area.

The bride and groom were wearing the latest from famous SimCity designer, Pronupsims.

There was dancing and lots of toasts to the new couple.

Many people in Simmington Hills are anxious to see what Sabien Cunningham and his wife have in store for the growth of Simmington Hills' community.
